Complete Restoration

I would like to share my story with the desire that it would help someone in some way, however I am not comfortable sharing my name at this time.

I became pregnant at the age of 17 in 1985. At the time, I was living in a home with adoptive parents who were verbally and emotionally abusive and ignorant of the responsibilities that parents have to love their children. I had been told repeatedly that if I were to become pregnant, or commit one of many other "offenses", I would be ejected from the family with no questions asked. The one shining light of my life was my boyfriend, who helped me to escape from my dysfunctional family and showed me what love really is. Unfortunately, I was not a Christian and hadn't been told of God's desire for me to wait until I was married to be sexually intimate. Before long, I realized, with terror, that I was pregnant, and saw only one way out: abortion.

As far as the details of my abortion experience go, I have succeeded in stuffing the memories deep down inside of me as a means of coping. I am presently beginning to recover them with the help of a wonderful Christian counselor. After my abortion, I did a smashing job of acting as if everything was fine and dandy. My boyfriend and I got married in 1987 and are now the parents of three beautiful daughters -- 11, 9, and 5. In the past year, after seven years of knowing Him, the Lord has begun an awesome work in our lives. He has shown us love and forgiveness for the many poor choices we have made in the past, the abortion being just one of many. We now are closer than ever before and are able to enjoy the gracious blessings He gives us each day. We have found complete restoration in Him.

As I continue to seek healing from the pain of my abortion, I hope that my story will touch a heart and that someone who needs to see the hope that can come even after an abotion will find it here.

Thank you for allowing me to share.
