A woman in Colorado who slipped into a coma in November 2000 unexpectedly woke up in March 2007.

Doctors had diagnosed Christa Lilly as being in a "persistent vegetative state" after a heart attack and stroke. But Christa woke up and talked to her mother, who had been caring for her for the past seven years. She also got to spend some time with her 12-year-old daughter and three grandchildren.

Although she had been receiving her nutrition through a feeding tube, she had no trouble returning to normal eating. She especially enjoyed some cake. She did say that speaking was difficult.

Sadly, after three days she slipped back into the coma. But her doctor says that he holds out hope that she could wake up again.
