Celine Dion helps woman recover from coma?
According to an article in the Rochester (NY) Democrat and Chronicle (Feb 2001), a woman in Park Ridge Hospital was paralyzed from botulism. While she was unable to move or communicate in any way, she was, in fact, completely conscious and able to hear normally. But this led to a problem. A friend said that she was a big fan of the singer Celine Dion, so the hospital, hoping that it would help her recovery, played Celine's music around the clock for weeks. Unfortunately, the friend was mistaken. The poor woman "never cared for Dion". When she finally recovered to the point where she could communicate, one of the first things she did was to ask them to turn off the music.
